Building relationships, engagement and participation with parents/guardians: Parentkind’s Blueprint for education professionals
In November 2022, we teamed up with national charity Parentkind, to bring you an event to help improve relationships with parents and increase parental participation.
Kerry-Jane Packman, Parentkind’s Executive Director of Programmes, Membership and Charitable Services, lead the session by presenting their new Blueprint for Parent-Friendly Schools, followed by a Q&A.
Parentkind’s Blueprint for Parent-Friendly Schools is an evidence-based, easy to use tool which facilitates long-lasting improvements in parental participation. The model is a response to what parents and teachers have said they need, and is based on extensive research. The design of the Blueprint creates a foundation, not just for school leaders, but for all who work in the education professions, to maximise and build upon parents’ contributions to create positive partnerships with parents for the benefit of all learners.
The session included:
- an overview of the Blueprint for Parent-Friendly Schools
- the context, value and benefits of parental participation
- Parentkind’s research and evidence
- ideas, case studies and learnings
- Q&A
