Professionally Speaking 2026: what educators need to know about putting children's rights into practice
Professionally Speaking 2026: what educators need to know about putting children's rights into practice

21 October 2026, on Zoom

Wales is internationally recognised for its commitment to children's rights, with a vision that every child and young person is heard, respected and able to thrive.

We welcomed the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Rocio Cifuentes MBE to Professionally Speaking. She explored what children and young people across Wales are telling us about their experiences of education, and what this means for those working with and supporting them.

Drawing on evidence gathered directly from children and young people, Rocio discussed the role of the office for the Children's Commissioner for Wales, and the importance of a rights-based approach to education and youth work. The session reflected on current challenges facing learners and considered the practical steps that professionals can take to uphold and promote children's rights in their everyday work.
