A Fitness to Practise Committee of the Education Workforce Council (EWC), sitting remotely on 11-14, 19, and 25 February 2025, has found allegations of ‘unacceptable professional conduct’ proved against school learning support worker, Anna Pavett.
The Fitness to Practise Committee found the following allegations proven, that whilst employed as a Learning Support Assistant working at Ty Gwyn Education Centre, Ms Pavett:
- Between or around January 2023 and June 2023, did not maintain professional boundaries with Pupil A, in that, on one or more occasion(s), Ms Pavett:
- sat on the floor with Pupil A
- touched Pupil A’s hair and face
- was ‘play fighting’ with Pupil A
- On or around 20 December 2022, submitted an employment application to Teaching Personnel which she knew contained inaccurate and/or misleading information in that she:
- did not disclose previous disciplinary matters
- did not include accurate employment history
The Fitness to Practise Committee imposed a Reprimand on Ms Pavett’s registration as a school learning support worker for a period of 2 years (from 25 February 2025 to 25 February 2027). As such, Ms Pavett will be able to work as a registered person (school learning support worker) in a maintained school or non-maintained special school in Wales for the period of the Reprimand.
Ms Pavett has the right of appeal to the High Court within 28 days.
