A Fitness to Practise Committee of the Education Workforce Council (EWC), sitting remotely on 2-6 June 2025, has found an allegation unacceptable professional conduct proved against school learning support worker, Abigail Jayne Scrivens.
The Committee found the following allegations proven, that whilst employed as a School Learning Support Worker at Monnow Primary School Miss Scrivens:
- on 9 November 2022, took hold of pupil A’s wrist or arm:
- when it was not reasonable or necessary to do so in the circumstances
- used more force than was reasonable in the circumstances
The Fitness to Practise Committee imposed a Suspension Order (without conditions) on Miss Scrivens’ registration as a school learning support worker for a period of 1 year (from 6 June 2025 to 6 June 2026). As such, Miss Scrivens will not be able to work as a school learning support worker in a maintained school or non-maintained special school in Wales for the period of the Order.
Miss Scrivens has a right of appeal to High Court within 28 days.
