Our ever-popular Professionally Speaking event returns this autumn in its new slot at the beginning of the academic year. The event will be held virtually on Wednesday 21 October 2026.
Wales is internationally recognised for its commitment to children's rights, with a vision that every child and young person is heard, respected, and able to thrive. Delivering on that vision requires those working across education and youth work to understand their experiences and ensure their rights are upheld in practice.
With this in mind, we’re proud to announce that our keynote speaker is Rocio Cifuentes MBE, Children’s Commissioner for Wales. Rocio will explore what learners and young people across Wales are telling us about their experiences of education, and what this means for those working with and supporting them.
Drawing on evidence gathered directly from young people, she will discuss the role of the office for the Children's Commissioner for Wales, and the importance of a rights-based approach to education and youth work. She will also reflect on the challenges facing learners today and consider the practical steps professionals can take to uphold and promote children's rights in their everyday work.
