Registration and regulation

Induction

Employing an NQT? You must submit the induction notification form. This will make sure that everybody involved in the NQT’s induction has access to the online profile, and ensures the NQT is allocated an external verifier.

Hearings and outcomes

All registrants are expected to follow the Code of Professional Conduct and Practice. Occasionally, things can go wrong. If this happens, we investigate and consider whether to take any action. This both safeguards the public, and promotes/maintains professionalism in the education workforce.

You can see any upcoming hearings, and hearing outcomes on our website.

Practitioners trained outside Wales

Practitioners who trained as school teachers outside Wales can apply for recognition as a school teacher in Wales. Anybody awarded QTS through a course of initial teacher training in England is automatically recognised in Wales.

Are your staff registered?

Education practitioners can’t work in Wales without EWC registration. Employers (including supply agencies) have a legal obligation to check staff are registered, before they start work.

Post-16 professional development framework

We’ve been working with practitioners and stakeholders to develop an all new professional learning and development framework for practitioners in FE, WBL, and adult learning. It brings together a range of advice, guidance, and tools to support practitioners on their professional learning journey.

We’ve also worked alongside partner to produce new professional standards for FE and WBL leaders. Additional resources to encourage leaders and support staff to engage with their new standards will be added to the framework in 2024.
