Check your staff are registered
All employers can use their online access to the Register to check the registration status of all staff. Don’t forget, employers and agencies are legally required to make sure that their employees are registered in the correct category/categories of registration for the work that they do. That includes any visiting workers, such as supply staff, peripatetic teachers, hourly paid staff, and visiting workers (such as music tutors, sports coaches, etc).
Safeguarding the profession and public
We are reviewing the Code
Since its introduction, the Code of Professional Conduct and Practice has provided clear guidance to practitioners and the public on the standards expected from EWC registrants. As part of our legislative requirement to review the Code, we have made a few minor amendments. Head to our consultation page to read the revised draft and share your views.
FtP case studies
In our latest Fitness to Practise (FtP) case study, we take a look at an example of where a registrant was prohibited due to falsifying learners’ work. These case studies are based on real life examples and created to give registrants valuable learning points, to uphold and comply with the Code, and protect their registration.
Remind your staff
It’s very important your staff’s details on our register are up to date. Encourage them to log in to their MyEWC account to make sure that all fields are current and up to date.
Attend a fitness to practise hearing
Most hearings are held in public meaning you can join as an observer. Information on upcoming hearings and how to attend is available on the fitness to practise pages.
Council updates
Next Council meeting
The next meeting of our Council will be held in the EWC offices on Thursday 20 March. Any members of the public, including registrants, are welcome to observe a Council meeting. For more information and to register your interest in attending a meeting, please

Unlocking 25+ years of EWC fitness to practise casework expertise
11 March 2025, 10:30-11:45
For the first time, we're sharing our knowledge and insights from over 25 years of regulatory work, drawing on our experience with more than 5,000 cases. This is an event for employers, supply agencies, and governors to gain a better insight into our work, and come away with information that will assist future interactions with, and referrals to, the EWC. More information and free tickets are available on our events page.
Using the PLP to support you and your staff
We continue to work with a range of organisations, developing bespoke ways for the Professional Learning Passport (PLP) to support practitioner professional development and reflection. If you are interested in finding out more on how the PLP can support your organisation, read our e-flyer or contact

Supporting our deaf and hard of hearing audiences
We have published two of our key corporate videos in British Sign Language (BSL) for the first time. Publishing these videos in BSL marks yet another important milestone for us as an organisation, and highlights the importance we place on fostering a culture of inclusion.
Our response to youth work consultation
We recently responded to a Welsh Government consultation seeking views on a proposed statutory framework for youth work across Wales.
